Dirty Rain born in 2003 as a melodic death/black metal band with the following lineup: Marco Ciuffreda (bass), Federico Mondelli (vocals and guitars) and Raffaele La Tosa (drums). A primitive version of Clouds is the first release of the band, who plays also some cover from Dark Tranquillity, In Flames and Anathema. By the passing of time Dirty Rain move their sound toward a more melodic form of dark rock, and …Of Winter, Uncertainty Well and Luna e Ombre come to light, while the band reaches its definitive formation with Ruggero Diblasio (keyboards).

After the forced departure of Raffaele, Dirty Rain record their material in addiction to three new songs (Eurydice, Dirty Rain and Mourning Sea) with the help of Giuseppe Ciuffreda (programming), who is responsible also for mixing work. So in Summer ‘04 the first demo of the band, Luna e Ombre, is released.

Luna e Ombre is substantially a mixture of rock and goth elements, with a bland spray of doom, but depression, apathy and sorrow are expressed especially through Federico's vocals, which monotone and dissonant cries contrast purposely with sweetness of melodies.

Alessio Cassano (drums) joins Dirty Rain as an official member; with him the band composes some unreleased songs: Departure Of A Day, Glass Morning and Distance Of Lies, that differ from the old songs of the band, especially about a more melodic Federico's way of singing.

In Spring ’05 Ruggero is substituted by Saverio Furio at keyboards, who completes the definitive band’s lineup.
